Performance Testing

 

Testing heatsinks always involves evaluating how they can dissipate heat generated from CPUs during idle and load conditions. It also involves pitting them against stock coolers that come with the CPU as well as other third-party heatsinks currently on the market. We paired the Megahalem against the ASUS Triton 81, Intel's stock heatsink, the Vigor Monsoon III LT, and Zalman's CNPS9900 LED. Our idle results were recorded 10 minutes after booting into Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. Our load test scores were recorded after running three instances of Cinebench 10 (64-bit version) and taking the average temps. Here are the results from our tests with the Megahalem:

 

As you can see from the graphs above, the Megahalem absolutely demolished the competition and even beat the CNPS9900LED by three degrees. This is a huge win for a relatively unknown company who only has one heatsink under their belt. If this is any indication of what we can expect from Prolimatech in the future, I think they will quickly become a huge competitor in the CPU cooler industry.
