There is little doubt that the increased (overclocked) speed of the Hercules 3D Prophet II 64mb version had a lot to do with the results of the benchmarking. In the Quaver tests and in the 32-bit modes, the extra memory over other GeForce cards come in handy and can improve your frame rate dramatically.Does this make 64mb Hercules card the top-choice? In my book: Yes, if you can afford it. The retail price on these cards starts at $419.99, but if you try hard enough, you can find them for around $359. This review copy retailed for $359.00 and was quite a steal, wouldn’t you say? 🙂 The price/performace ratio is basically what it comes down to, and will be different for each individual. If you have the extra money to spare, the 64mb version is the card to beat, and should be able to hold off any competitors for quite a while. I don’t think that the Voodoo cards will be able to top the performance and quality of the GeForce 2 GTS very soon. With the recent driver dilemma from 3dfx, you have to wonder about the companies quality control.
