Well, at the beginning of the article I told you that you were to know by the end of the article what performance increases you could expect when overclocking your Duron processor up to a 1 GHz speed. The results speak for themselves, every little bit of speed helps. If you are a timid overclocker, and only want to push your shiny new 700 MHz Duron up to 800 MHz, you will still be getting a 10% increase in the CPUs performance, at least according to our tests here.

If you like to go the distance and don’t mind trying to push the limits of your PC, then pushing your Duron 700 MHz to 1 GHz, you could end up with nearly 50% increase in total CPU performance! For the cost of a better fan, this option seems more than inviting enough for most users with ability to build their own systems. How can anyone resist that temptation?

If you have the answer let me know, because I know that I can’t. There are no ratings here, since I am not officially reviewing the Duron processor here. So, I’ll leave with a few links to where you can get CPUs and motherboards that are good for this kind of task below.

A very special thanks goes out to Sterling at Monarch Computer for helping get the hardware needed for this review. Visit MCS for the best in AMD hardware.
