Have we got a treat for you!! Not only do we have one of the very best Aluminum Mid-Tower Cases on the market, but it has also been modified by DesignComp, a company well known for their customized computer solutions.

As a proud owner of a Lian-Li Aluminum Case I’ve long enjoyed its light weight, innovative design features and its cooling effectiveness. Thanks to Andrew Smith of DesignComp, not only am I able to share this great case with you all, but also show you one of the most professional, high quality, fully modified cases I’ve ever seen.

As you will see, the modified Lian-Li case does not render up visions of wild or extreme, but rather a stylish adaptation of an already awesome case. The functionality and added cooling abilities of the modified Lian-Li may give you some ideas as to modifying your case; I have already included a few into mine and plan on adding a few more.

In this review we are dealing with two different subjects, the case and the modifications, but as they are so closely integrated we’ll be mixing and matching to give you the best possible overall view of both.

The Lian-Li Mid-Tower Aluminum Case

Pictured below are three of the most popular Lian-Li Mid-Tower cases; they are from left to right, the Beige PC-10, the Black PC-12 and the Brushed Aluminum PC-60. Their dimensions are 492(L) x 210(W) x 450(H) mm or 19.25” (L) x 8.25” (W) x 17.75” (H).

Much has been made about the light weight and durability of aluminum cases as compared to steel cases of the same size. The Lian-Li Mid-Tower weights in at approximately 13 lbs or 5.9 kg while a steel case of the same size weights in at about 19 lbs or 8.6 kg, both without power supply. Now, that’s significant if you lugging your computer around to LAN parties, or if you’re like me, picking it up and bringing it downstairs (often) to make hardware changes.

The second big to do about Aluminum Cases is their inherent cooling abilities, when compared to their steel cousins the difference can be as much as 6 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit or 3.3 to 5.1 degrees Celsius lower temperature. As an added bonus, Aluminum Cases are non-magnetic which protects your system from magnetic interference.
