While the K7S5A is able to beat out the Shuttle AK31 it is still unable to top the Epox 8K7A board. Why this gaming-based test shows different results from the Quake III tests could be because of the optimizations that 3D Mark 2001 has for DX8 and perhaps how DX8 speaks with the motherboards and chipset directly.
The K7S5A is able to take the ALU memory scores here but still falls behind the more mature AMD 760 chipset in the FPU performance. The SiS 735 is still able to put out some excellent scores, though.
All the boards show very similar results here, so the SiS 735 third place finish here isn’t enough of a drag to take any thunder of the boards previous marks.
