There is little doubt that the Iwill KK266Plus is the best motherboard in its category. Passing up the marks of the original KK266, the A7V133 from Asus and the reigning Epox 8KTA3. It has one of the greatest sets of overclocking options yet seen on a motherboard and the option for a RAID version of board adds to its potential value. Iwill has tweaked the KT133A chipset to what I think is it maximum potential in the KK266Plus motherboard. With that said, I have to tell you that the days of SDRAM will soon be on the way out. No one can deny the power of DDR DRAM in a system. If you are going to be building brand new system with power and speed in mind, I would highly suggesting looking at a competing DDR motherboard like the Soyo Dragon or Epox 8K7A.
If you are going for low cost – or have too much SDRAM memory to think about going to DDR now, the Iwill KK266Plus is the board you have to get – end of story. It is great! No other SDRAM board can beat it and Iwill’s support and fan base is great if you run into any kind of technical problems with a component.
I am going to do something odd here and present the KK266Plus with a mixed score. First, it gets an 8.5 out of 10 stars for being a great board, but behind a bit when compared to DDR competition. But, the KK266plus also get an Editor’s Choice award. Many will argue that because DDR boards out perform it, it doesn’t deserve one. Well, consider this a “Best of breed” award, not necessarily a “best overall” award. The breed of KT133A motherboards has a new king, the KK266Plus.
