The content creation tests here on the Winstone set include programs from Adobe like Photoshop and Premier that go further into the high-end, professional side of computing. The Athlon 1.4 is the obvious winner again, coming out 18% ahead of the Duron 1.1 GHz. The Duron does do well though and sees a, you guessed it, modest gain over the 1.0 GHz model.
This test is much more apt to be what home users do on a daily basis. Using programs like MS Word and Excel as well as web publishing programs are what the business Winstone benchmark tests. Even though the scores seem closer, there is still about a 20% difference between the Duron and Thunderbird. That is probably a noticeable amount of speed, but the Duron is a budget chip made for budget boards and a budget market.
