The numbers don’t lie to you. With the exception of the memory scores not being up to snuff on what they should be yet, the KT266A powered 8KHA+ comes out on top in everything. Just as I surmised after playing with the reference board for a couple weeks, motherboards with the KT266A chipset on them are going to be the king of the hill for some time. This is what DDR power was always meant to be.

Epox has once again come out of the gate swinging one of the first and most anticipated motherboards in a long time. While being the first kid on the block with the newest technology always has its risk for being the guinea pig for finding bugs and compatibility problems, Epox decided to take that risk in order to be first to market. They have succeeded and you should be able to purchase this board at many online locations as of today.

I have a few other KT266A boards here on the test bench, so does that mean you should wait to see what else someone is going to offer? That depends on a lot of your own personal factors. I can tell you that like any similar chipset motherboards the performance is going to be nearly the same and the main differences will come in the form of customer support, bios support and stability. Epox has all three of these categories down to a science. What is it missing? Nothing with maybe the exception of an optional RAID version.

This board has something to offer for everyone. Even with the board I reviewed being an engineering sample, I didn’t have a single stability problem. The board is a dream world for the overclocker and system tweaker. Not to mention the fact that is simply the fastest motherboard currently available! Couple the Epox 8KHA+ with an Athlon XP processor and you will have the fastest desktop PC on the market! Congratulations go out to Epox for receiving yet another Editor’s Choice award for their KT266A powered 8KHA+ motherboard
