ECS K7S6A SiS 745 Motherboard Review

Our very first ECS motherboard review was of the SiS 735 chipset on their K7S5A motherboard all the way back in August of 2001. At the time, the SiS 735 chipset seemed to be ahead of its time, coming in as fast as anything else on the market. However, because it was never able to gain a large portion of market share, neither the board nor the chipset really took off in the US.

Due to ECS’s close relationship with SiS, they are the first motherboard manufacturer to introduce a board based on the newer SiS 745 chipset. Touting new features like DDR333 support with a 166 MHz memory bus and the native 1394 (FireWire) support, the chipset is attempting to make a run against the KT266A chipset and latest from VIA, the KT333 chipset.
