Both of these tests are showing the Athlon XP 2600+ with a very strong advantage over the competition. Notice that the Athlon XP 2200+ and the Pentium 4 2.53 GHz are neck and neck while the 2.13 GHz Athlon XP boosts ahead by more than 20%!
I apologize that the Athlon XP 2200+ benchmarks are not included in this test. The new Athlon XP processor is 27% faster than the Pentium 4 setup at the lowest resolutions. Notice that both in 1024×768 and 640×480 the scores are nearly identical meaning that the game is CPU limited at those resolutions. Once you go up higher into the 1280 and 1600 sizes you see that again the video card is the limiting factor; as this happens the benefit from the new Athlon decreases, but is always in front.
Here both of the AMD setups are able to walk over the Intel 2.53 GHz system. The Athlon XP 2600+ is able to beat it by a very handy 25%.
