The content creation tests have been one of the areas where AMD had been falling behind to the Pentium 4 as of late. Here in the 2001 version of Winstone we see that the latest Athlon XP processor beats out the 2.53 GHz Intel CPU by a very impressive 13% or so. In the 2002 revision of Winstone the Athlon XP 2600+ and the 2.53 GHz P4 are neck and neck with the P4 just barely pulling ahead. The 2600+ did beat out its 2200+ rival by 10%, which is a very good increase, just not enough to topple Intel.
Finally in the Sysmark 2001 content creation test, AMD is finally overtaking the Intel powerhouse. By about 6%, the Athlon XP 2600+ takes the number one spot in this test and beats out the 2200+ by almost 14%. I did not use Sysmark 2002 for some very interesting reasons that you may see in another investigative article some time soon.
In the office tests the Athlon XP 2600+ is once again the reigning champion. In the Business Winstone test the Athlon XP 2600+ wins out on the P4 2.53 GHz by 11% and in the Sysmark 2001 tests by only 3%.
