Some color changes and flaws may appear. The Nazi-shooting classic resurfaced in the modern PC gamers’ market based on the Quake 3 engine this time around. While it’s supposed to be a modified and much more GPU-intensive version of the engine, I noticed that even RTCW isn’t stressing the GPU as much as I would have liked to see. Nevertheless, it’s a popular game, and a great benchmark.
Now this is interesting– the Ti4600 actually wins over the 9700 in this benchmark in everything but 16×12! Although, either way you can’t go wrong, as all cards are putting out great framerates in all resolutions. What I found to be interesting was that the 40.72 drivers provided a performance decrease in 1600×1200– it’s obviously a fluke, but it again proves my point that OpenGL performance is not improved much in the 40.72 drivers.
