The memory scores of the SM2 test echo what the we have seen on both AIDA and SiSoft’s tests.
The Athlon XP not only benefits from a higher core clock, but also dual-channel memory which is why the Athlon 64 performance is slower (slower core clock and a single memory controller). The Athlon 64 3200+ has a tough time keeping up.
Though the A64 3200+ is a bit slower than the AXP 3200+, the P4 falls behind them both.
The K7 and K8 architecure get a win here as both the Athlon 64 and Athlon XP topple the P4.
