The Quake III benchmark has always been one that has been dominated by the P4 processor with its dramatic frequency advantage. While the default nForce3 setup with the 1.8 GHz Opteron is slower, when we use ether DDR400 or when we overclock the Opteron a bit, we see that it is able to over come the P4 after all. With scores of 447 FPS, I don’t think we should ever play Q3 slowly again! 🙂
