Both of these Vantec fan controllers proved easy to install and setup. Each offers a unique combination of size and features. If you are looking for a dual-purpose fan and light controller then the Vantec NEXUS-301 deserves a close look. If you need a nice looking and functional four channel, variable-speed fan controller that will fit in a 3.5” drive bay then the NEXUS-205 may be just the answer. The NEXUS-301 offers a unique combination of fan speed and light control. The dual blue cold cathode lights are easy to mount and can really light up the inside of a case. Engaging sound activation adds a new dimension to the aesthetics and fun of custom PC case lighting. I found the two-tone sliver-gray styling, although somewhat plain, blended in very well with a number of different case styles and colors. The green backlights are a nice alternative to the ever popular blue LEDs.
The NEXUS-205 is a great solution for people who do not have room for a 5.25” unit but still want the features and versatility of a full-function, 4-channel fan controller. It’s available in either silver or black so it will blend in with the styling of most cases. The blue backlights are not overbearing and add a classy touch to the little controller.
The Vantec NEXUS-301 Fan and Light Controller will be available in early August 2003 with a MSRP of $39.99 US. The NEXUS-205s are available now with a typical street price of ~$25 US.
I would like to thank Vantec for providing us with NEXUS-301 to review!!! Check one of these new controllers out at one of the many Vantec authorized distributors or online stores.
