Vantec
is a well-known name in the computer industry offering a full line of PC parts
and accessories. Their product line
includes CPU coolers, numerous peripheral devices, accessories and of course
power supplies. The Vantec Stealth 470
watt PSU is one of the three Stealth models available (420, 470, and 520 watt).
The
Stealth 470 is housed in a black aluminum enclosure and includes three
temperature controlled fans. The back
panel includes a manual on/off rocker switch, temperature mode selector switch,
AC voltage selector switch, and accessory AC outlet.

Vantec
Stealth 470 watt ATX – key features:
- ATX12V (Rev.
2.03)
- Black aluminum
enclosure
- Three ball
bearing fans (80mm)
- Auto
temperature control
- Black braid
webbing on ATX power cable
- On/Off switch
and accessory outlet on rear panel
- Long life
140,000 hrs MTBF (@ 25ºC)
- 3 year
warranty
The
three onboard fans can be controlled in three different, user selectable
modes. In “Auto” the fans adjust sped
according to the internal PSU temperature.
The other two modes allow manually setting the fans to either slow speed
or medium speed.
Another
unique feature that the Vantec Stealth 470 PSU offers is a 24-pin motherboard
connector to accommodate some dual processor and/or server class
motherboards. The included 24-pin to
20-pin adapter allows connecting the Stealth 470 to the more common motherboards
with standard 20-pin ATX connectors.
While this option provides flexibility, I’m not a big fan of having any
more connectors in series with the main power leads than necessary.

Here are a few pictures of the Vantec Stealth 470 with the cover removed. You can clearly see the three 80mm fan locations; two drawing air in and the one rear fan blowing air out.
