The numbers here show the strengths of the Athlon 64 processor – fast L1 memory and low latency main memory. The Athlon 64 at single channel DDR is able to meet the performance of the dual-channel DDR of the nForce2 Athlon XP platform – but still falls behind the synthetic memory numbers of the P4 system on the Canterwood chipset.
The molecular dynamics test indeed likes the Athlon XP processor, as it beats out the P4 and the K8 platforms easily.
The three K8T800 motherboards perform identically, but the platform is still coming up slower than the aging Athlon XP 3200+ processor.
The Cipher test paints a better picture of the Athlon 64 processor, beating out the P4 processor and almost matching the speed of the Athlon XP system.
