Application: DivX and MP3 Encoding and WinRAR
The Athlon 64 2800+ comes in last on this benchmark, but for the price of the processor, it is not far behind.
The Athlon 64 2800+ and 3000+ tie for slowest MP3 encoding performance, but again by very narrow margins.
This test takes all the MP3 and WAV files that we used in the MP3 encoding test and uses the “Best” compression method in WinRAR, and the task is timed. The FX processors have an edge here, and interestingly the Athlon 64 2800+ comes near the P4 processors.
