Here is an exclusive first look at FarCry running on a GeForce 6800 Ultra using Pixel Shader 3.0. Click on the thumbnails for a larger image.
In similar fashion, the stone stairs are far more realistic when using PS 3.0 with significantly more detail.
One look at the water and the idea that Pixel Shader 3.0 doesn’t make a difference seems to go out the window.
Update: We are looking into some questions posed to us about these screenshots in this thread of our forums; most notably: what setting are the “before” images using on FarCry.
Update2: While we still try to get ahold of this mod, below is the official statement from NVIDIA on these screenshots. The first screenshots are NOT using PS2.0, but PS1.x instead.

The following before-and-after images are from the CryEngine. Developer Crytek uses Shader Model 3.0 techniques (vs. 1.x shaders) to add more depth and realism to the scenes. Notice the more realistic look and feel when SM 3.0 is applied to the bricks and stones that make up the staircase. In the scene featuring the Buddha, the full image comes to life with the use of SM 3.0, with the technique applied to multiple objects.
