Benchmark: Splinter Cell PT
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow was selected for testing due to its rich graphics and heavy reliance upon shadowing techniques. For testing, the latest 1.1 patch was installed to ensure the highest compatibility and performance. In terms of settings, every graphics setting was maximized while the audio quality was minimized to avoid any potential bottlenecks.
For each card, all settings were set to “Quality” mode with V-Sync disabled. Specifically on the NVIDIA cards, the option for Trilinear Optimizations was disabled to force “true” trilinear filtering.
At this minimal resolution, we see every card tested is unphased by the workload. Rather, in this case the CPU is the limiting factor which keeps performance bound to this level.
In similar fashion, we see the majority of the field returning the same overall results. The sole exceptions here are the two flagship cards which are just beginning to pull away from the other boards.
Gathering the results, we see that the two flagship cards maintain a healthy 10fps advantage over their closest competitors. Here, the two cards perform almost identically to one another throughout the test.
