Far Cry 1.1 – Volcano Demo

Our portion of the Volcano map is the initial, completely indoor part of the map that this demo runs through.  It uses a lot of lights and other effects on the 3D holograms in the first room as well that are heavy on the GPU.

This is the best showing NVIDIA has had on Far Cry in both 0x0x and 4x8x test settings.  The eVGA and NVIDIA cards grab the highest in all the FPS groupings.

NVIDIA is able to increase its lead pretty heavily here, and even at 4x AA and 8x AF, the eVGA e-GeForce 6800 GT card is able to push some impressive numbers at 10 FPS faster than the X800 Pro and a 8 FPS higher min FPS.

Obviously, NVIDIA is doing something right with the drivers for the game’s paths on this level.  It easily wins again with more than 10 FPS between it and the ATI X800 Pro.  NVIDIA, it would seem, has implemented some good optimizations for the indoor sections of Far Cry, even on the older 1.2 patch.
