Synthetic: Cachemem, Everest, SiSoft Sandra
The following are benchmarks that test the system’s memory handling capabilities and CPU specifically.
Here in our first memory benchmark, we see that the EPoX using the nForce 2 Ultra400 chipset has a small lead over the Soyo Dragon 2 using the VIA KT880. Considering that the cost of the Dragon 2 is slightly more expensive than most current nForce 2 offerings, this does not look too good for the Dragon 2.
As with Cachemem, the Everest benchmark shows the EPoX nForce 2 beating the Dragon 2 VT880 in both reading and writing from memory.
In the CPU test, the EPoX and the Soyo are essentially the same which isn’t too surprising since they’re both using the same CPU.
But the memory benchmark shows an important reversal for the Dragon 2. Up until this point, the nForce 2 motherboard has beaten it in every memory benchmark, but here we see the Soyo Dragon 2 beating the EPoX 8RDA3+ by a very slim margin.
