Application: DivX and MP3 Encoding, WinRAR and PCMark
XMPEG 5.03 and DivX 5.1.1
Though the Athlon 64 FX-55 does improve performance by about 8%, the Intel CPUs are still in the lead across the board as the DivX codec is optimized for SSE3 and HyperThreading.
Again we see the FX-55 processor makes a nice jump in MP3 encoding speed, decreasing the required time by 13 seconds, or 8%. It is good to see performance scaling like this on the frequency for AMD’s processors.
AMD’s domination in the WinRAR test continues and gets even stronger with the FX-55 pushing the time 7 seconds faster than the previous best.
Mainly in this PCMark04 run we want to look at the CPU performance, which is still heavily in Intel’s favor based on the use of multiple threads in the benchmark.
