Application: DivX and MP3 Encoding, WinRAR and PCMark

XMPEG 5.03 and DivX 5.1.1

Intel 3.46EE and 925XE Chipset - 1066 MHz FSB - Processors 51

The new 5.1.1 version of DivX with its SSE3 instructions is still giving the edge to Intel by a solid margin.  The 3.46EE processor shows improvement over the 3.4EE processor, but still falls short of the Intel 560 processor running at 3.6 GHz.

LAME MP3

Intel 3.46EE and 925XE Chipset - 1066 MHz FSB - Processors 52

The addition of the L3 cache and the lack of the longer pipelines of the Prescott are probably the reason the EE processors out run the standard P4 here.  The 3.46EE is able to pull within 2 seconds of the fastest AMD time on this benchmark.

WinRAR

Intel 3.46EE and 925XE Chipset - 1066 MHz FSB - Processors 53

Though we see a 22 second increase in compression speed with the 3.46EE processor, that score is still behind all the Athlon 64 scores, including the 3500+ processor.

PCMark04

Intel 3.46EE and 925XE Chipset - 1066 MHz FSB - Processors 54

One of the big changes we see here is the memory score from PCMark04 on the 3.46EE — it jumps over even the Athlon 64 scores.  The rest of the results still fall behind the Intel 560 CPU.
