Far Cry

Far Cry (Direct X)

On Far Cry 1.1 we are using manual run throughs of Far Cry as well on the Regulator level using God Mode enabled with the DEVMODE cheat to get repeatable results.

We set the in game quality settings as high as they would go, as you can see in the shot below.

Far Cry (still tested at v1.1 for this review) shows two different stories with AA/AF on these two cards.  Without AA/AF, the ATI card has a slightly higher average FPS, but a lower minimum and a higher maximum.  The NVIDA card does better overall there, based on the higher min framerate.  When enabling the AA and AF settings the ATI  card increases its lead in FC to a healthy margin.

Without AA/AF the V9999 Ultra performs right with the ATI X800 XT PE card.  Once AA and AF are enabled, the NVIDIA 6800 takes a bigger hit on performance than the ATI card does.

The ground is much more leveled out at the 1600×1200 tests, as the lead the X800 XT PE card has is down to less than 5 FPS.
