WMV9 Files and DivX HD

The next test was done using a WMV9-based file that I downloaded from Microsoft’s website.  It is a trailer for an IMAX film about the dolphin.

NVIDIA’s driver is again using up 6% more CPU cycles on average when rendering the file-based HD content.

Wow, the updated media player files improve performance by almost 51%!  And it lowers both min and max CPU utilization as well.

DivX HD – Shark Tale Trailer

DivX is one the most popular video formats online today, and their HD video format is going to be one of the bigger successes in the market.  Here we look at the latest DivX codec with a trailer of the Shark Tale movie I downloaded from www.divx.com

CPU utilization doesn’t improve at all with the new DLL files, as expected, since we are using a codec other than the WMV9 format.  Both the NVIDIA and ATI cards are showing significantly higher CPU utilization on DivX HD than on WMV9 HD too.
