Gaming: Doom 3 and Far Cry
Our Doom 3 tests were run at 640×480 to showcase motherboard and processor ability instead of graphics bottlenecks. Here we see that with and without anti aliasing turned on, the AMD 4000+ processor is faster than the Intel boards, Abit or otherwise. However, just as an honest word of caution, once we increase the resolutions to 1024 and even to 1600, the graphics cards are much more dominate in performance and thus the difference between the Intel and AMD platforms diminishes quite a bit.
The above statement rings true in our Far Cry tests that were run at both 1024×768 and 1600×1200 and show the little performance advantage that AMD did have slowly goes away as we turn up the resolution and image quality. The Abit Fatal1ty motherboard does perform very well in both the Doom 3 and Far Cry tests for the Intel platform.
