For this review, I will be using an AMD Athlon 64 CPU so I screwed the two AMD nipples (standoffs) into the backing plate. Both the heatsink base and CPU IHS were cleaned with Isopropyl alcohol before applying a tiny amount of Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound.
Installation was very straightforward and quite simple. Once the two threaded nipples were installed thru the motherboard into the backing plate and the heatsink was set into position, two screws were used to secure the spring clip to the nipples.
On my particular motherboard (Asus K8N-E Deluxe), the CNSP7700-Cu overhung the first and second DIMM slots so that only one stick of RAM could be used. Zalman provides a complete listing of motherboard compatibility on their website. The Asus K8N-E Deluxe was listed as being compatible without mention of any potential DIMM slot interference.
