We can tell from these results that the 2005 versions of SiSoft Sandra are much more optimized for the dual core processors than 2004 is.  While the 2004 version shows the Pentium D 820 behind the 4400+ by nearly 100%, in 2005 that lead is only 25%, though while still considerable, isn’t as debilitating. 

The memory tests show that the 820 and the 840, as well as the single core Pentium processors are all pretty much on pace with each other.  In Cachemem though, we do see a nice jump in the dual core CPUs.  The 820 is able to outperform the 500 series and previous Pentium 4 CPUs.
