Guild Wars – High End

Guild Wars (Direct X)

Guild Wars is another quality MMORPG from the makers of City of Heroes, only this one is free!  Well, you have to buy the game, but still…  I have several um, er…friends that are playing this now and it is quite good.  Here are the graphics settings we used:

ATI R520: Radeon X1800, X1600 and X1300 Review - Graphics Cards 197

We tested in the opening town where new characters start.

ATI R520: Radeon X1800, X1600 and X1300 Review - Graphics Cards 198

ATI R520: Radeon X1800, X1600 and X1300 Review - Graphics Cards 199

ATI R520: Radeon X1800, X1600 and X1300 Review - Graphics Cards 200

ATI R520: Radeon X1800, X1600 and X1300 Review - Graphics Cards 201

ATI R520: Radeon X1800, X1600 and X1300 Review - Graphics Cards 202

This game is somewhat CPU limited, but not entirely as we can see by enabling the 4xAA and 8xAF options.  The X1800 XT has just enough to pass the GTX card we tested and gain another win; barely.

ATI R520: Radeon X1800, X1600 and X1300 Review - Graphics Cards 203

ATI R520: Radeon X1800, X1600 and X1300 Review - Graphics Cards 204

ATI R520: Radeon X1800, X1600 and X1300 Review - Graphics Cards 205

ATI R520: Radeon X1800, X1600 and X1300 Review - Graphics Cards 206

The X1800 XL again falls behind its older brother in performance so much that it loses to both the GTX and GT models of the 7800 from NVIDIA.
