The Exterior & RAM

The first thing that jumps out at you when looking at the V2410 is its sharp looks. The charcoal and pewter gray on the lid and body are nice contrasts and helps you stand out from the sea of silver laptops.

The Presario V2410 is handsome looking.
Definitely not a cheap-looking laptop!

The bezel for the DVD drive wraps around the base of the laptop which gets handled each time I lift the laptop off a surface. I have concerns that this will eventually cause damage to the drive.

Unlike many other laptops, the Presario V2410 does not have any connections along the back except for the power jack. This means ports are more conveniently accessible from the sides and the front.

Opening the lid reveals a reflective screen 14.1″ screen with a thin bezel. The screen is a bit smaller than the 15.4″ WXGA counterparts and it shows by having a smaller footprint in both size and weight. We will look at the display performance later shortly.

The latch seems well constructed using an all-metal two-clip design for better force distribution. It looks decent enough to do a good job, but does look a little cheap in comparison to Lenovo laptops.

General sturdiness of the laptop is very good. With the lid down the laptop feels nice and solid when picked up with one hand. The lid is strong, but feels a little delicate because of the carbon fibre material (plastic never really feels sturdy). I found that moving the laptop didn’t make any parts creak under its own weight. The LCD maintains its picture even when moved using an open lid. Just be careful about lifting the laptop as the DVD drive bezel on the right side is poorly designed.

A user from our forums asked me if both SODIMMs are accessible from the back of the latptop. My response: yes! Unlike some other laptops, like Apple, which restrict you to a single usable SODIMM, the Compaq Presario V2410 allows you to change both SODIMMs if you choose.
