Half-Life 2 – Town01

Half-Life 2 (Direct X)

This was one of the most anticipated games in PC history, and even with the troubles it has had with Steam, HL2 drives-on as a great game and great benchmark for PC systems.  Below are the default settings we used for our testing today.  Actually, we enabled Reflect All instead of Reflect World and AA and AF were enabled where indicated.

Even at the 4xAA and 8xAF quality levels the 7800 GTX cards and the X1800 XT are almost too powerful for this level of HL2 and it becomes mostly CPU-bound.  The 512 MB 7800 GTX has a lead, but a small one.

And, as you would expect with the previous results, running two of them in SLI mode doesn’t really make us weak in the knees in this instance.
