Gaming: 3DMark 2001: SE and 3DMark05
The 2001 3DMark benchmark is heavily CPU-bound and thus shows a much greater scale of differences between the different processors. The 4800+ takes the top spot followed by the 3800+ OC. This is actually pretty interesting as it insinuates that the 3D Mark 2001 software utilizes the additional cache on the 4800+ very well. In 3DMark05 the results are much closer and all the processors are within a pretty small margin of performance. Finally, in our 3DMark05 CPU tests we see that the dual core processors perform better than the 4000+ and the 4800+ and 3800+ OC are nearly on par, but we do see the added cache having a slight benefit again on the 4400+ and 4800+ models here.
