Gaming: 3DMark 2001: SE and 3DMark05
Both 3DMark 2001 and 2005 give us some interesting results to read into. First, based on the 2001 results, we can still see that the AMD processors have an advantage in gaming situations in which the processor is the main bottleneck. However, in the 2005 benchmark, even at the low resolution of 1024×768, the Pentium XE 955 processor is only a couple hundred points off the top score on the AMD platform. Running the test (and games for that matter) at higher resolutions will in fact but more of the pressure on the GPU rather than the CPU and would level out the results even more between the Intel and AMD test configurations.
