Introduction and Specifications
Lian Li is bringing a new addition to their popular V-series of cases to the US in a much smaller form factor. Will the V600 complement your next system?
Introduction
Once again, we have the privilege, thanks to our friends at Hampton Technologies, to bring to you the latest addition to Lian Li’s very popular ‘V Series’ of aluminum computer enclosures. While the V600 shares allot in common with its brethren the V1000, V1200 and V2000, a carbon copy of the previous ‘V Series’ cases it is not. To this end, we’ll show you the PC-V600 along with the very popular PC-V1000 so the differences can be made more apparent.
Since the introduction of the ‘V Series’ almost two years ago Lian Li has continued to refine its offerings with ‘Plus’ models that seemed to answer most peoples request for changes. The one thing lacking was simply a smaller case.
With the demise of the floppy drive and the advent of Thumb Drives ranging in capacity from 16MB all the way up to 6GB and still getting bigger, external Hard Drives and CD/DVD Burners of every flavor are replacing components we once thought essential to a PC. Could a case survive without a simple 3.5″ bay?
The final prerequisite was the committal of AMD and Intel to produce cooler running CPU’s, after all, the ‘Video Giants’ were already supplying motherboard manufacturers with high quality GPU’s that have been incorporated into lines of new motherboards for SLI and CrossFire. These new heat-generating systems need a more efficient cooling mechanism in smaller cases.
So, if you follow the logic outlined so far, the need for a high quality, smaller, computer case becomes self evident.
Specifications
At this point, we’ll sneak in the Lian Li PC-V600’s specifications. The specification chart listed below has been taken directly from Lian Li. The one specification that is not detailed is the 120 mm fans CFM’s and dBA’s; for the first time in my memory the fans bare the logo of Lian Li.
