Network Interface Tests
Our network tests use the ntttcp application distributed by Microsoft for testing network controller’s efficiency. The program creates a number of threads from a server machine to spit data at the test machine at up to Gigabit speeds. Both maximum throughput and CPU utilization are tested.
Network Interface Test — Max Throughput
Network Interface Test — CPU Utilization
You’ll notice that the secondary NIC on the Asus A8R32-MVP motherboard has 0 for both results; this is because this network interface would not complete the benchmark. It would run at full bandwidth for several seconds then the activity light would stop and the system would eventually throw an error in the command prompt. We have inquires into Asus to find out if this is a hardware bug or a BIOS update fix in the works.
Overall though, the A8R32-MVP makes a great showing with its PCI Express based NIC barely beating out both the NVIDIA integrated and external PCIe network speeds. The CPU utilization is slightly higher on the ATI board, however.
