HD Gaming – Far Cry and HL2
With more and more users looking at higher resolution monitors like the new Dell 30″ LCD that can handle 2560×1600, testing resolutions over 1600×1200 is becoming increasingly important. In our “HD Gaming” tests we look at some of our benchmarks we ran at 16×12 at 2048×1536 — the current highest resolution that any monitor in our lab can handle!
As we stretch the resolution up, the 3% clock rate increase is actually getting us 3.6% better performance than the reference cards, which is always nice. The SLI mode sees a nice 70% gain here as well!
The HL2 engine in our Canals level run through sees a small gain in the single cards and only a decent SLI increase of 28%.
