HD Gaming – FEAR, CoD2 and Lost Coast
The BFG card sees a 3.9% performance gain over the reference card in our FEAR testing — not a lot but better than the 3% clock rate increases show on their own. SLI gains are impressive with an average FPS increase of over 76% though the minimum FPS only goes up 31% or so.
Call of Duty 2 is a beast here — frame rates in the low 20s are hard to live with though the BFG card maintains its 3%+ lead over the reference card. CoD2 is however a poster child for SLI as we see a nearly 83% gain in average frame rates going from a signle 7900 GTX to dual GPUs. The minimum FPS also sees a step improvement of 78%.
Lost Coast is antoher tough game on nearly any system, and at 2048×1536 this only increases. The BFG card sees a 3.3% performance gain and SLI sees a modest 44.4% gain in average frame rate.
