HD Gaming – Far Cry and HL2
With more and more users looking at higher resolution monitors like the new Dell 30″ LCD that can handle 2560×1600, testing resolutions over 1600×1200 is becoming increasingly important. In our “HD Gaming” tests we look at some of our benchmarks we ran at 16×12 at 2048×1536.
Far Cry at 2048×1536 is definitely giving an advantage to the ATI X1800 XT card with its larger frame buffer. The SLI configuration allows NVIDIA to out perform it, but at nearly twice the cost.
We have very similar results here on the Canals 09 level of HL2; the ATI X1800 XT has a big advantage with the 512 MB frame buffer.
