This was one of the most anticipated games in PC history, and even with the troubles it has had with Steam, HL2 drives-on as a great game and great benchmark for PC systems. Below are the default settings we used for our testing today. Actually, we enabled Reflect All instead of Reflect World and AA and AF were enabled where indicated.
Our second HL2 run through takes place in the Canals portion of the game where there are a lot of water reflections to deal with. Here’s a typical scene from our run through:
In our Half-Life 2 tests, we saw that the BFG 7900 GT OC increased performance just slightly over the reference card and it was nearly enough to counter the performance advantage that the ATI X1800 XT had. The SLI performance is very nice here as well, with the dual 7900 GT OCs showing a 56% increase in average frame rate and a 79.5% increase in minimum frame rate!
