Cell Factor Demo Screens and Video

Cell Factor is a game in development that has been the shining star of AGEIA’s PhysX PPU since the beginning.  Designed with physic processing in mind, Cell Factor will apparently require a PhysX PPU to play it, and once you see the screen shots and videos, you’ll immediately see why.

Because Cell Factor requires a PPU to play, comparing screenshots or videos against a system without one is impossible and thus our opinions are simply decided on our feel for the game and performance.

The demo map that was available to us was basically an empty level just littered with things on the floor for us to shoot at and blow up and manipulate with the players ‘psi’ power, or the ability to move things with your mind.  Here you can see me ‘pushing’ a large section of pipe and debris over the edge of the platform.

Shooting a grenade into stacks of objects causes them to react accordingly.

This cloth banner is waving in the wind, though you can’t see it in the still shot as you know.

After placing a few bullets in the cloth, it tears up and flaps in the wind as you would expect it to.

You really do need to see the video in action to fully appreciate the amount of physical interaction that you can achieve on the level.

Cell Factor Demo – Video – 1024×768 WMV HD

Watch as I take the Cell Factor demo and just demolish the place with all kinds of object left sitting around to play with.  While the sytle of game isn’t really showcased here, the ability to simply walk around and play with the physical objects is impressive.  Nearly everything in this world is able to be interacted with.

This video gives us a glimpse of what AGEIA PhysX PPU powered games are going to be able to offer in the future, if they require the PPU.  The game play changes that would come from the ability to shoot out a box that your opponent was hiding behind and then toss the pipe nearby on him sound pretty exciting.
