“Buffalo Technology’s 2GB PC2-8000 FireStix FSX1000D2C-K2G memory has a default clock speed of 1000 MHz (DDR2-1000) at CL 5-5-5-15, which when running in a dual channel configuration can provide up to 8GB/s worth of bandwidth. The interesting back story on these Firestix modules PCSTATS is about to benchmark for you is that the Buffalo engineers veered away from the standard JEDEC design, and relied instead on the talents of Kazuyoshi Tsukada to develop the PCB trace layout. Kazuyoshi-san has been recognized by JEDEC for PCB design, and now heads the Melco Inc. PCB design team.”Here are some more Memory articles from around the web:

Buffalo’s non-standard DIMMs are on fire
PCStats reviews some very fast RAM, Buffalo’s FireStix FXZ1000D2C-K2G PC2-8000, 1 Gb DDR2 DIMMs. They manage to push them up to 1020MHz, and would have gone further, if the board would have allowed it.
