General System Performance
“General System Performance” is a pretty broad heading, but in our case this means a series of tests that measure the performance of various parts of the system in unison.
In PC Mark 05, we can see that the dedicated Radeon Mobility X1600 gives the A7J a huge boost in overall PCMark score. Surprisingly memory performance is similar to the W5F despite dual-channel.
ScienceMark 2 performs some CPU and memory intensive computations like calculating the orbitals of electrons (Primordia) and measuring the thermodynamic behaviour of molecules (moldyn). Each test is run and an overall score is given.
In general the A7J is the fastest laptop tested here and is given the edge thanks to the 1024MB RAM and dual-channel memory. The Turion ML-30 on the Compaq V2410 squeaks out a surprising result in Blas/flops by beating both Intel Core-Duo laptops soundly.
