Half-Life 2 – Canals09

Half-Life 2 (Direct X)

This was one of the most anticipated games in PC history, and even with the troubles it has had with Steam, HL2 drives-on as a great game and great benchmark for PC systems.  Below are the default settings we used for our testing today.  Actually, we enabled Reflect All instead of Reflect World and AA and AF were enabled where indicated.

Our second HL2 run through takes place in the Canals portion of the game where there are a lot of water reflections to deal with.  Here’s a typical scene from our run through:

With AA and AF enabled at 16×12, the GX2 is again the fastest single video card tested here and though the BFG 7900 GT OC SLI configuration is slightly faster, it is close enough to be considered a tie.  When we get to the 20×15 testing results, the GX2 jumps way out from the pack easily displacing the X1900 XTX as the top performing video card and it is even able to leave the GT SLI setup behind by 20%.
