SiSoft Sandra 2005.SR3
We ran the standard SiSoft Sandra synthetic processor test.
ScienceMark 2.0 BLAS Test
This test from the ScienceMark 2.0 suite does matrix multiplies very quickly in order to find the top MFLOPS (millions of floating point operations per second). SGEMM runs them in single precision and DGEMM runs them in double precision.
In our synthetic SiSoft Sandra test, the Asus N4L-VM DH and the Intel T2600 processor fall behind the X2 4800+ processor by less than 10%, a noticeable gap in the performance for very similarly clocked processors. Our ScienceMark 2.0 BLAS tests show a very large performance gap in favor of the AMD configuration doing these complex matrix calculations. If you remember correctly, this is one of the weak points in the original Pentium M processor architecture as well.
