SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 6, 2006 — Intel Corporation today disclosed that it will expand its portfolio of NOR flash memory products for the growing multi-billion dollar embedded market segments. The company outlined plans to introduce a 3-volt (3V) version of its Intel StrataFlash® Embedded Memory architecture. Intel also disclosed that it will enter the fast-growing serial flash segment with its first Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) product.
These moves underscore Intel’s commitment to the NOR embedded flash memory market segments, which encompass a wide range of consumer electronics devices, industrial applications, PCs and wired communications equipment. Analysts estimate that the NOR embedded flash market segments (excluding handsets) will reach $2 billion to $3 billion in 2006, with SPI flash memory one of the fastest growing segments.
