Toshiba announced yesterday that they will begin production on the world’s highest density 2.5″ hard drive in August. Weighing in at 200GB, this will finally give mobile users the needed breathing space to do more without having to constantly backup to other media. The MK2035GSS will use the new Perpendicular Magnetic Recording technology and will likely come in different RPM offerings for budget to high-end price points. You can view the PDF on the release here.

“The 200GB dual-platter MK2035GSS is Toshiba’s first PMR drive to incorporate tunnel magneto-resistive recording (TMR) head technology. Toshiba’s new 2.5-inch HDD is light-weight at 98 grames and incoporates the Serial ATA II interface with NCQ, enabling faster data transfer rates and improved technical performance.”
