CPU and Memory Performance
We will measure the performance of the CPU and memory using SiSoft Sandra 2005 SR3 and Everest Ultimate Edition 2006. These are low-level tests which do not replicate real-world results, but offer a good standard measurement to compare CPU and memory performance across platforms.
The T2600 2.16 GHz CPU puts the M1710 on the top of this test by a very large margin even though the differences between the CPUs on the A7J and the M1710 is just 500 MHz.
In the following memory tests the M1710 is using two 1GB SODIMMs at 667MHz timed at 5-5-5-13, and the Asus A7J is using two 512MB SODIMMs at 667MHz timed at 5-5-5-15.
The results above show strong results for the M1710 thanks to faster memory timings at 667MHz bus compared to the rest. 2GB is the smallest memory configuration you can get from Dell and you can get up to 4GB.
