3DMark and Mixed Games
Now the moment many of you have been waiting for – game performance results of the Dell M1710 Metallic Black using the GeForce Go 7900 GS! The Go 7900 GS is slighty slower than the optional Go 7900 GT, but the GS is a bit cheaper and is a good solution for people on a budget or those who aren’t as concerned with game performance.
As a reminder, here’s the graphics on each of the tested systems:

3DMark ’06 and 3DMark ’05
First let’s take a run through 3DMark to see some initial scores in hypothetical gaming situations.
Nothing extremely surprising here… the Go 7900 GS smokes everything in these tests.
Mixed Game Performance
Now lets take a quick look at the performance of the laptop across various games in different genres in High and Low detail settings. Low details typically means the lowest supported game resolution with the lowest graphics options available. High details means 1024×768 resolution or better with most details enabled or put on HIGH.
*VSync enabled – Caps maximum at 60 FPS.

The M1710 metallic black with the GeForce Go 7900 GS hardly breaks a sweat in any of these games. As a digression, Halo looked absolutely amazing with all the details enabled and at the highest resolution possible. The last time I played this was on a Radeon 9800XT which ran Halo at a much lower setting. I’m tempted to replay this game just so I re-experience it with more beauty.
