Conclusions

The SpirePower SP-500W Rocketeer V power supply looks awesome!  The Titanium-look mirror finish and blue LED fans are very cool and the sleeved cables are excellent.  Voltage regulation was solid across a broad range of loads.  And lets not forget the 3-year warranty.

My main complaint with the Spire SP-500W power supply is the 120mm fan speed control circuit kept changing speed at higher output levels, which could become annoying.  The sleeved cables are rather stiff but this can be overcome by judicious use of cable ties to secure the cables in place once routed.   I would also like to see future versions include Active PFC for the US market and dual +12V outputs.

Overall the SP-500W Rocketeer V power supply is a nice offering from Spire and should appeal to enthusiasts looking for a PSU with solid rails and great aesthetics.  I would like to thank Spire for sending us the SP-500W power supply to review — thank you!
